DESERT LAKES GOLF CLUB
Las Vegas Golf Course Preview/Review 4/13/04
Desert Lakes Golf Club, located in Bullhead City just 15 minutes from Laughlin, provides the area with a value
golf experience, ideal for mid to high handicappers, beginners and those looking for a good warm up prior to
playing some of the area's more challenging layouts. The course is fairly flat, with a few rolling fairways that play
to mostly raised greens that are small in size with very little undulations. Bunkers are also few in number, and water comes into play on just 2 holes.
The 6569 yard layout (119 slope rating) winds it's way through a residential community, with some nice views of
the desert mountains in the distance. Palm trees, pines and other native foliage are abundant. Players will find
that they will be able to practice a good variety of approaches, with the bump and run from level areas in front of
the greens a recurring option. The fairways are reasonably open and player friendly - as there are no fairway bunkers.
The course provides yardage info with 100/150/200 yard blocks in the fairways, as well as visible 150 yard
stakes on all par fours and fives. Most experienced golfers can handle the back tees, but the middle tees provide
a decent test of yardage at 6267 yards with a 115 slope. Women, seniors, juniors and beginners will find the
forward tees extremely playable at 5440 yards with a slope rating of 114. A practice green and aqua driving range are on property, and the clubhouse features a grill, lounge and outdoor patio.
Desert Lakes is an American Golf property and together with the incredibly challenging Emerald River course in
Laughlin, is featured in special golf package rates with various Laughlin Casinos. Rates for golf with cart top out
at $68 weekdays and $78 weekends during prime season. For more info, call or visit our informational page for Desert Lakes by clicking here.
