Las Vegas golf course review

Coyote Springs (The Chase) Golf Club - Las Vegas golf course

Coyote Springs Golf Club is a gorgeous desert layout that has as its partner, one of the most influential names in golf - Jack Nicklaus. This outstanding golf course features spectacular views in a pristine high desert setting, with exquisite condition (even in mid-August) and manicured landscaping along an extremely undulating terrain.

The environment is replete with outstanding water features including clear running, cascading waterfalls and streams that provide habitats for plentiful native waterfowl. Intricately shaped sand bunkers - many of them deep and penal, line the wide fairways, which have a mogul-like presentation similar to the true Scottish Links designs. Most golfers should be find the ample landing zones off the tee, but will be challenged to land on the correct portion of the extremely undulating green complexes.

Many tee boxes demand carries over beautifully landscaped desert areas, though the distances are reasonable in nature. Waste areas filled with crushed stone often line one or both sides of the fairways. Some green complexes are raised and all are well protected by sand bunkers. Swales, mounds and collection areas await off line approaches, and the rough surrounding the sand traps is long and challenging. The putting surfaces themselves are large and very undulating.

Not including the waste areas, there are nearly 100 sand bunkers strategically situated greenside or near the landing zones. The crystal clear ponds and cascading streams that meander throughout the layout provide hazards on 12 holes, with several forced carries.

The par four finishing hole is the most memorable - as it begins from an elevated tee looking out towards a beautiful mountain backdrop, highlighted by landscaped water features and lush palm trees. If the wind is at your back, your drive should carry a long ways.

Elevation plays an interesting role as many tee boxes are raised, and there are quite a few downhill approaches. The four sets of tee areas play to distances and slopes measuring 7471 yards/141 slope, 6807 yards/137 slope, 6215 yards/ 132 slope, 5288 yards with a slope of 127 from the forward tees. This is a great set up - a tough challenge from the 2 back tees but very playable from the front 2 sets. Wind definitely plays a role as the course is situated a good distance from the protection of the beautiful mountain ranges

On course sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green and are easy to find. . The practice facilities include targeted grass range and putting/chipping green. A Player's Lounge is on property with seating for up to 40 and sandwiches are catered daily from Jason's Deli. No outside food or drink is allowed

The property is situated about 30 miles from I-15 and about the same distance from mesquite. It is a convenient drive from the strip or from the Mesquite area and is well worth the trip from both. We highly recommend a round here for anyone visiting Las Vegas or Mesquite. Rates are very reasonable - making this one of the region's best golf values.
