Las Vegas private golf course review
SouthShore Coutry Club is a Jack Nicklaus Signature (members only) course that is situated on the shores of Lake Las Vegas, about 30 minutes from downtown and the strip.
Lake Las Vegas Resort is a private residential and resort community featuring custom home sites, waterfront and golf villas, resort condominiums and luxury executive homes.
The Mediterranean inspired resort hosts the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa and the Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa as well as restaurants and shopping.
Members of the club have access to the golf course and practice facilities, and can take advantage of the clubhouse amenities which include locker rooms with showers,
televisions, and a comfortable lounge.. The clubhouse is expansive - 28,000 square feet - and affords wonderful views of the mountains. The clubhouse also includes a library
and meeting/board rooms with private dining available. There are indoor and outdoor banquet facilities, a comfortable outdoor patio, plus Montanga Vista Dining Room, a full
-service restaurant and lounge serving breakfast on weekends, lunch 6 days per week and dinner on Wednesday and Friday nights.
The practice facilities include a grass driving range with complimentary balls, short game area with sand bunker, plus putting green. GPS on carts provide accurate
measurements from tee to green and information on the daily hole location. The carts feature extremely comfortable, padded seating.
There are 5 sets of tee boxes with distances and slopes measuring between 6903 yards/149 slope/74.1 rating and 4775 yards/106 slope and 64.1 rating. Six holes have water
hazards in play and 81 soft sand bunkers are scattered about the layout, near the landing zones off the tee or situated greenside.
As you can ascertain from the photos, this course is stunningly beautiful. Golfers will encounter numerous carries over water, canyons, natural areas and desert areas
landscaped with pampas and desert foliage. Luxurious homes dot the landscape and are far removed from play - but close enough to add to the aesthetic beauty of the
experience. The green complexes vary from large and sloping to medium size with gentle undulations, and most have collection areas and gentle mounding.
Holes 16 (a daunting par three) and 17th (equally intimidating) feature incredible tee shots over a deep canyon. The terraced tee boxes are landscaped into the mountainsides,
and present breathtaking (and heart-pounding) vistas. Lava rock is part of the landscape, and lucky members will at times encounter coyotes, rabbits, bobcats, roadrunners, quail
and bighorn sheep. The property is part of an environmental stewardship program, with advanced technologies designed to preserve natural wildlife habitat and monitor
watering and ergonomic practices.
